Un OVNI musical. Difficile de définir plus concrètement HIM, le projet mené de main de maître par Doug Scharin, batteur surdoué d’Activities of Dust, June of 44, Codeine, Rex ou encore Mice Parade. Un vieux baroudeur de la scène indé qui ose les mélanges de genre aux confins de l’afro beat, du post-rock et du dub. HIM nous revient enfin avec un nouvel opus intitulé ん (caractère japonais prononcé « hmmm »). Doug continue ses expérimentations avec la formation japonaise qui l’accompagnait sur son précédent album et offre ici un voyage musical encore plus métissé et novateur : la bande-son ensoleillée d'une jam imaginaire entre Tortoise, Fela Kuti, Jaga Jazzist et Shugo Tokumaru. Surprenant et, hmmm, magique !

A musical UFO - there is simply no better way to define HIM. The group was founded by Doug Scharin, the prodigious drummer behind Activities of Dust, June of 44, Codeine, Rex and Mice Parade, a household name of the indie scene who thrives on diversity and experimentation, mixing afro beat, post-rock and dub. HIM is back with a new album called ん (a Japanese character pronounced « hmmmm »). He recorded the album with the same group of Japanese musicians that accompanied him on his previous release and once again pushes boundaries with this record, delivering a musical journey even more mixed and innovative than his previous offerings. Tortoise, Fela Kuti, Jaga Jazzist and Shugo Tokumaru all come to mind in a constantly shifting, surprising and satisfying blend.
